This intricate and stunningly beautiful pair of bejeweled Aesthetic style leaded and stained glass casement windows depicts a bounty of floral blooms climbing towards the heavens in an eye-popping array of colors. Each bloom is in a different color of slag glass with a beautiful, colorful jewel in the center. Slag glass, also known as marble glass or malachite glass, is a type of opaque, streaked pressed glass. Production of slag glass originated in late-19th-century England, where glass manufacturers are thought to have added slag from iron-smelting works to molten glass to create a range of effects—from tortoiseshell to marbling. The windows have a background of pebbled amber glass and a border of slag glass in pink to deep ruby tones. We have done some light restoration work on these but have chosen to preserve the original glass pieces to maintain the integrity of the design in many places. Check the condition tab for full details. These are truly gems of windows.
