Antique pair of capitals for pilasters, painted red. In architecture the capital (from the Latin caput, or "head") forms the topmost member of a column or a pilaster. The capital is often selected for ornamentation; and is often the clearest indicator of the architectural order. The treatment of its detail may be an indication of the building's date. There are some chips in the plaster on each one as shown in the photo, 12-1/4 ” by 4-¾” deep and 5-3/8” tall each.
