This is an antique cast bronze door knob and plate in the "Eastlake" design made by the Gilbert Lock Company patent date 1875, shown in an Allentown Hardware catalog circa 1890. "Gilbert’s Patent" effectively eliminated the set screws, washers and spindles required to attach a doorknob. There is some heavy loss of finish to one door plate where the bronze is showing.
