This is an antique cast bronze and porcelain knob mechanical doorbell hand crank which was originally nickel plated. The nickel plating is largely worn off the outer escutcheon but some remains on the crank handle. The porcelain knob is cracked and missing a section. The hand crank is mounted on the exterior side of an entry door and would turn one way to release the spring driven hammer inside the mechanical bell, the bell would be mounted on the interior side of the entrance door.
Good condition: showing minor signs of wear to finish but no excessive damage to the structure. The nickel plating is peeling off the hand crank, the backplate has lost almost all of its nickel platting and there is a chip on the side of the porcelain kno
The dimensions of the item are: 1-3/8" knob diameter, Mounting plate is 4-1/4" in diameter, 2" projection. The shaft is 1/4" wide & 2-3/4" length.
