Antique GCP Co. Gas Fireplace Insert No. 314
This is an antique GCP Co. No. 314 in cast iron, steel, and ceramic fireplace gas fireplace insert. This piece is in good condition with very nice patina and some rust with cracks in the ceramic. This item has not been tested nor do we guarantee if it is in working order.
The Humphrey Company was founded in 1901 by Alfred Humphrey, who started the General Gas Light Company in Kalamazoo, Michigan, marketing new, inverted arc gaslights.
Humphrey opened offices in San Francisco, New York, Havana, London, and Bremen. By 1920 more than a million Humphrey arcs light homes, stores, factories and city streets.
In 1916, Humphrey invented the "Radiantfire", a clean and odorless gas heating unit for fireplaces. Between 1920 and 1940, Humphrey employed more than 300 people producing 150,000 heaters a year, adding to the more than 700,000 "Radiantfire" products already in the marketplace. The Humphrey Company is still in existence today.
