This is an antique cast bronze mechanical door bell lever or pull with a bluebird motif made by Sargent & Co. and shown in their 1888 catalog.This would have been mounted on the exterior of the door with a mechanical or rotary doorbell mounted in the interior of the door.
Good condition: showing minor signs of wear to finish but no excessive damage to the structure. The black enamel has worn off and there is some slight paint in the crevices.
The dimensions of the item are: 2-1/4" w x 6-1/4" h, 1-3/8" projection. 2-5/8" total depth including shaft.
