This is an 8" replica porcelain bust of L.N. Fowler's Phrenology. There are many divided segments on the head with their corresponding personality traits written out in a typewriter font. The overall color is beige and there is a crackled pattern throughout the form. Phrenology was a pseudoscience dating back to the 1830s-1870s which believed that one could tell a person's disposition just by feeling the bumps on their head and each segment of one's personality had a corresponding physical space. For instance, many employers in the 1840s would have a local phrenologist examine a prospective employee's forehead to check for benevolence and a hard work ethic. Fortunately, this popular fad eventually died down and was discredited and treated as a cult interest such as psychic ability or astrology. Today, you can amuse your friends and family members and do your own personality assessments in the comfort of your own home.
Measures 8" high.
