This rim lock is in good condition with no noticeable flaws or damage beyond normal wear and tear for an antique item of this age. We recommend using graphite to lubricate mortise and rim locks if parts are binding or sticking. Use extreme caution when opening locks, rest lock on a level secure surface and carefully remove top to reduce the risk of flat springs popping out of position. Take a photo of the inside of the lock to ensure you know where all pieces go as many are held in by the friction of both sides of the case, so when one side of case is removed parts can fall out.
