This 15-3/4" x 32" antique stained glass window is simple and timeless, featuring a variety of slag glass made circa 1880. This will let a lot of light into a room but also allow privacy, perfect for a bathroom. The center has an attractive deep green, blue, and yellow with amber and yellow faceted jewels. There is one crack and a slight bowing to the window.
Slag glass, also known as marble glass or malachite glass, is a type of opaque, streaked pressed glass. Production of slag glass originated in late-19th-century England, where glass manufacturers are thought to have added slag from iron-smelting works to molten glass to create a range of effects"from tortoiseshell to marbling. The variations in color and depth that slag glass provides make this style of glass ideal for windows and lamps, providing privacy in windows yet allowing light into rooms.
